Happy December! The end of the year crept up on me fast… I can’t believe this project already has taken half a year… But instead of focusing on time, let me focus on the update!

Done…:

  • Skeleton Draft 3 is done!
  • Gathered up a needed resource list for the moment.
  • Outfits done: Momoka, Michi; Started on Chihiro, Kaede, Ayako and Naoto.
  • Concept sketched gallery and bonus content
  • Started outlining KKPP Deluxe Edition
  • Planned some bonus content…?

To do…:

  • Continue with the outfit sketching
  • Add in sliders for BGM volume perhaps…? / Work on control page
  • Draft 3 start…?
  • Continue with KKPP-DE

Now to get into the meat and potatoes of things…

Skeleton draft 3 of the main game is done! I really think doing skeleton drafts has helped my focus on how I want the story to be and the main plotpoints to touch on, and it’s also seems to help me figure out where I need more info, whats lacking, ect. It’s good! I really think 1-2 more go-arounds of the main script and i’ll get it where I want it, which is very exciting! Doing this also helps with the resource list as I list them out as I go. Of course, it’s not a 100% list; I don’t think it’ll be that until I start coding and adding, but to have a baseline of what I need is important.

Similarly, outfit sketching has been really important. I did 2 of the side character’s outfits, but the main ones are giving me a bit of struggle with color and such. They’re all sketched out, just need the right colors and patterns put on… Which is sort of a pain. I also started sketching looks of other main “pages” from the home screen– i.e, an eventual gallery and place for bonus content. It’s only in the sketched stage and obviously i’ll need to figure out how to bring it to fruition, but a start is at least something…!

Now, KKPP Deluxe Edition [Or, as I’ve shortened it to, KKPP-DE]... I didn’t initially plan to make the original KKPP game that this game is “based” off of come to life. However, after presenting KKPP to people at a part, I decided it’d be very fun to do that, and maybe it’d even help some of my writing uncertainties for the main game. As of right now, this option will be a bonus to the main game [an unlockable]. I think it’ll help in the long run and be fun to play through… The issue is that is more writing, but I am nothing if not a yapper. As of right now, the plan is it plays differently to the main game [a dating sim vs a straight up visual novel], so there are a lot more factors that go into planning for it. However, if all goes well, the length will be comparable to the main game. What does this mean for the player? More stuff! What does it mean to the person viewing this dev log? Well, the game might take more time, and this is why.

As of right now, that’s all there is to say on this! Thank you for reading the devlog and keeping up with this project! I appreciate anyone reading these, whether it be only one devlog or all of them. Please have a safe and happy December and I look forward to updating again next year…!
